Famitsu recently released a series of screenshots from the
upcoming HD re-release of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess that show off
a number of changes from the original Nintendo Wii and GameCube versions. Like
the Wind Waker HD remaster that came to the Nintendo Wii U back in 2013, the
changes appear to be relatively minor and should have little impact on
gameplay.
First and possibly the most exciting one is that the Tears of
Light gauge now only holds 12 tears as opposed to the previous 16. While the
screenshots only show this in the Lanayru Province, it seems to reasonable to assume
that it will also apply to the other Tears of Light fetch quests in the game.
The wallet has also been made larger. In the original Twilight Princess
releases, Link could only hold a maximum of 1,000 rupees -- though they were
not exactly used for much. This time around, Link can now seemingly hold up to
2,000 rupees.
Of course, the screenshots that Famitsu released could simply
be from a working beta of the title. While these two changes might not vastly
increase the speed and improve the quality of the game, like the teleportation
mechanic that was introduced in Wind Waker HD, the bigger wallet and smaller
fetch quests could prove welcome updates. The Legend of Zelda: Twilight
Princess HD is set to release exclusively for the Nintendo Wii U in March.
